Chancel Choir

The foundation of the Music Ministry at Grace is the Chancel Choir. It is a volunteer choir of adults, and interested youth, who rehearse every Wednesday evening, 7:00-8:30. The Choir sings every Sunday morning. Its first responsibility is to enable the congregational song. Secondly, it provides appropriate anthems, in many styles, on behalf of the congregation. The Choir also sings for seasonal services, such as Christmas Eve, and Holy Week. It is not an auditioned choir. Anyone who likes to sing is welcome. The director of the Chancel Choir is Rev. Ginger Howl. The accompanist is Wes Howl.

Music Time for Children

There is a 15 minutes Music Time for elementary age children at the beginning of the Sunday School hour. The goals of Music Time are to have fun with music, to learn basic music education, and to begin to learn the hymns and songs of the faith. It is led by Rev. Ginger Howl.

Ringers rehearse in short-term ringing seasons leading up to particular worship experiences and special events. Five octaves of handbells offer wonderful opportunities for those enjoy ringing or who would like to learn!

Instruments other than the organ and piano can enrich our worship. At Grace, we often are blessed by the cello playing of professional cellist, Val Griffen. Others in the congregation who are well-trained on a particular instrument are encouraged to talk to Rev. Howl.

Holden Evening Prayer

During the Advent season - between Thanksgiving and Christmas - Grace offers a sung evening prayer service known as, The Holden Evening Prayer. It is not a choir production. Everyone who comes joins in. It is held in the north narthex where the acoustics are outstanding! The prayer service is preceded by a simple supper at 6:00, in the parlor, with the service following at 6:30 p.m.
